A PLACE OF WORSHIP FOR 120 YEARS

This year, we are commemorating 120 years of God’s faithfulness to us here at St. Joseph’s.

This special occasion calls for a special celebration!

Please join us at 7.00pm on Wednesday 1st May for the 120th Anniversary Mass celebrated by Bishop Brendan Leahy.

At the dedication of our church in April 1904, the then Bishop of Limerick Dr Edward Thomas 0’Dwyer stated

“It was, or rather would be, a fine church, simple in its outlines, massive, monumental in its architecture, as every church should be, being a symbol of the Church of God, built upon a rock and lasting for all time.”

St Joseph’s was originally used as a chapel of ease for St Michael’s parish church in order to accommodate the increased population of the parish.

With further population growth the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes was formed from part of St Michael’s in 1963 as were St Joseph’s and St Saviour’s parishes in 1973.
